Community Connectedness
Local groups are the sole of their communities. Since 2003 St-wise has been working with groups to inspire, motivate and increase productivity. We can help groups to become self-sustaining and united in their vision. We have been involved in a range of interesting and inspiring community projects that have assisted in building the capacity of community groups. Some of these are listed below.
In February 2009, Victoria was affected by one of the state’s worst natural disasters. In response, Yarra Ranges Council developed the 'Municipal Recovery Action Plan'. This plan identified activities and actions to assist community recovery.
One of Council’s key areas of responsibility identified within the plan was recovery events and programs. Since the fires, Mandy Black has been working with Council, local community groups and individuals to initiate and develop events and programs that build resilience and social connectedness.
St-wise plans and conducts stimulating workshops on behalf of groups or local Councils to help them engage with the broader community and identify stakeholder priorities. These workshops are often a stepping stone prior to the development of a full strategic plan that guides future actions.
We have worked with a variety of community groups and organisations to develop strategic plans that identify objectives, a common vision, future opportunities and a clear action plan.
Recently we worked with an emergency relief organisation to develop a plan to guide the Committee of Management's future actions. Read more about this project.
St-wise has assisted groups and organisations in identifying a governance structure that reflects their function and their core objectives increasing productivity and effectiveness.
St-wise works with local community groups and organisations to map their local assets including identifying key stakeholders and recognising future partnership opportunities. Asset mapping records the richness within a community and can also help identify gaps in services.
"With flair, creativity and plain hard work, Mandy has devised and delivered an amazing array of projects and events, working them up collaboratively and sensitively with community groups and community leaders. She also effectively develops close partnerships and first rate relationships with state government agencies, businesses, other NFP and philanthropic organisations. Working collegially is also one of her strengths."
